Kill the Mosquitos.

(Tuesday, September 7, 2010)

So supposedly if all of the mosquitoes in the world were killed, it wouldn't really hurt the circle of life.

Let's kill them.

Here's an article on the subject.

Here's an article about some people actually trying to kill them all!

How much can we remember?

(Monday, April 26, 2010)

This article, "Maxed out: How much can we remember?" by David Robson describes exactly how many digits of pi humans would be able to remember if we weren't so... you know... lazy.

Personally, my record for digits of pi is 621 digits. The numbers in this article make that sound like child's play.

SixthSense

(Saturday, October 17, 2009)

This new technology is utterly incredible. My jaw dropped upon seeing this.

The SixthSense device consists of a camera, a projector, and a mirror. It's meant to be like a necklace. The data can be projected on any leveled surface!! Pretty. Neat.

Absolute Zero

(Monday, July 20, 2009)

"Let’s take a look at what fun we can have going down the thermometer all the way to 0 Kelvin," starts this neat article. As you go down the page, the stuff that occurs happens at temperatures that get lower and lower.

This chair, created by Japanese "interactive designer" Tomomi Sayuda, automatically photocopies your butt when you sit on it.

"This project came from "impact" brief. My initial concern was the news about a naked British streaker who jumped into the Japanese Emperor's palace moat. I was interested in the principle of the news, which is showing embarrassment without big harm for fun. For me, impact means positive and humorous reaction. I decided how to represent this principle. This idea development took the longest time of my four projects. I was brainstorming in many ways with some practical developments since October 2008. Finally I came up with the idea of scanning people's bum."

Things, but VERY SLOWLY.

(Tuesday, June 2, 2009)

Brainiac's "Things But Very Slowly" shows various common, and not so common, things on a high speed camera. I particularly enjoy the slap in the face segment.

65,000-Brick LEGO Space Shuttle

(Sunday, April 5, 2009)

This may look like a real Space Shuttle at the first sight, but it is actually the result of outstanding LEGO work.

Two Japanese LEGOsmiths used 65,000 LEGO bricks and 1,590 man hours to complete this LEGO Space Shuttle.

It is the world’s largest LEGO space shuttle. It even has a command center and a red countdown button!
